What is a qualified time stamp? Why do we say that GoCertius has the
utmost legal validity?

Under Law 6/2020 on electronic trust services for electronic transactions in the internal market, a qualified time stamp is an electronic trust service that ensures the integrity and the date and time of an electronic document at the time it is signed.

This type of time stamp is issued by a qualified trust service provider, i.e., an entity that has been assessed and authorized by a competent authority of an EU Member State to provide trust services in accordance with the EU regulations governing electronic trust services.

The main feature of a qualified time stamp is that it gives a high level of legal certainty to the electronic document to which it is applied, since it ensures that the information contained in the document has not been altered since it was signed and that the date and time of the signature are accurate and verifiable.

To be considered qualified, the time stamp must meet a number of technical and legal requirements laid down by the EU regulations, and must be issued by a trust service provider that has been assessed and approved by a competent authority of an EU Member State.
