GoCertius and LACNet: Revolutionizing the certification of digital evidence
4 min lectura

At GoCertius, we are constantly innovating to offer our users the latest in digital certification technology. Today we are happy to announce a new and exciting addition: As well as eIDAS-compliant qualified time stamps, GoCertius also certifies evidence in Blockchain by integrating LACNET,s advanced distributed ledger technology (DLT) into our system.
Double time stamp: Combining eIDAS and Blockchain with legal compliance
This new supplementary record uses distributed ledger technology to generate a double time stamp for your evidence. While blockchain technology is technically robust, it is important to note that it does not produce the same legal effect in Europe (reversal of the burden of proof) as a qualified time stamp provided by a Qualified Trust Service Provider (QTSP) like EAD Trust, under the eIDAS Regulation. However, the blockchain backup feature in GoCertius adds an additional layer of certainty, something which is particularly important in jurisdictions where eIDAS does not apply but where blockchain technology is recognized and legally accepted.
GoCertius allows a Latin American user wishing to register evidence to ensure it has local validity and is backed by this enhanced European legal value. That is, they can easily and securely certify the evidence, such as:
- A photo or video of an incident subject to an insurance or reinsurance claim.
- The condition in which imported goods were received in order to make a claim.
- The way in which a certain item has been processed or manufactured, where its certification is significant in Europe.
- Any digital file requiring evidence of its existence or traceability.
Maximum privacy and security at every step
By rolling out GoCertius’ capacity to certify evidence on LACNET, we ensure that user privacy and security is our maximum priority. Personal data is protected during this process, since only hashed and salted information is recorded in the blockchain, thereby guaranteeing the confidentiality and protection of each piece of evidence.
LACNET: the best partner for the Latin American market
LACNET, is a public permissioned network promoted by the Innovation Lab of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB Lab) as part of the Alianza Global LACChain. Replicating internet governance mechanisms, its members include the Latin America and Caribbean Network Information Center (LACNIC) and REDClara, entities tasked with overseeing the internet in the region, and it offers service capacity on its distributed networks, which today include more than 150 entities that deploy over 250 nodes globally, constituting the largest public permissioned network on the planet, according to the Hyperledger Foundation[1].
Adaptability for corporate clients
This new feature is particularly beneficial to our corporate clients. EAD Trust, solutions, supported by GoCertius, are able to integrate different stamping sources, including other DLTs and trust service providers from other jurisdictions. This means that we can adapt our solutions to the specific needs of each client, offering a personalized and flexible service.
GoCertius andy LACNET, leaders in innovation
The capacity of GoCertius to certify evidence on LACNET is not just a technical improvement, it is a declaration of our commitment to innovation and adoption of blockchain technology and to adaptability in the field of digital certification and cross-border verifiable credential systems. With this new capacity, GoCertius establishes itself as a robust and versatile solution for the protection of digital evidence, inspiring trust and providing certainty to users worldwide.
